YG Entertainment goes all out for Big Bang’s comeback promotions

While gearing up for their official comeback on February 24th, YG Entertainment was revealed to be sparing no costs in promoting Big Bang’s first comeback in nearly two years.
The agency was reported to have spent a couple hundred million won alone in just the advertising andpromotion for the album. They currently have two rapping buses touring Seoul, as well as over 40 ads plastered on intra-city buses.  Banners alerting passerbys of the album’s drop date are also spread throughout, including a larger exterior banner put up over the Cine City in Apgujung.
Advertisements are also placed near the 2nd and 4th subway lines,  as well as screen trailers in CGV theaters, multi-cubes in CGV theater lobbies, and  DLA systems in the lobies in Yongsan, Myungdong, and Wangshibri.  One newspaper company recently even put out two full page advertisements.
As if all that isn’t enough, the company also went ahead in investing in partnerships with advertising companies for a variety of other ’spot exposure’ promotions.
One industry representative commented, “Movies spend a significant amount on advertising expenses, but albums are promoted through broadcast shows, so this is definitely an exceptional promotion case.”

YG Entertainment confirms Big Bang comeback date!

Big Bang’s comeback date has been finalized!
On February 14th, YG Entertainment revealed Big Bang’s comeback date through their official website.
According to the agency, Big Bang is having a comeback on February 24th by releasing a mini album, as rumors suggested. Big Bang’s comeback is the one of the most anticipated comebacks of the year and is expected to have a big impact on the entertainment industry. Fans have been waiting for their comeback for years and are greatly anticipating Big Bang’s return to the music scene.
Meanwhile, it was noted that the Big Bang members’ names was marked out in small letters around the head.

Why is Big Bang making its return with just a mini-album?

When rumors were confirmed regarding Big Bang’s comeback with a full album being compressed to a mini-album, many fans were disappointed and confused by the sudden change. After all, it was quite puzzling that the highly-anticipated return, which would end a two-year group hiatus for Big Bang’s Korean activities, would contain so little tracks.
According to reports, the reason behind this smaller comeback is due to the fact that Big Bang intends to increase their freqency of producing albums this coming year, with plans to keep meeting with their fans instead of just actively promoting for a short time period.
In a recent interviewG-Dragon confirmed, “After coming back from Japan, we also have plans to make one more album.”
Perhaps this is a little bittersweet for VIPs, but in the long run, 2011 sounds like it’s going to be amazing!

SBS to air hour-long Big Bang comeback specia

After confirming their official comeback plans yesterday, Big Bang will now be meeting with their fans through an hour-long SBS special called “Big Bang Comeback Show” on February 27th!
This is the first time a singer has being given a full hour to promote their comeback on a publicbroadcast network since the legendary Seo Taiji.
Given the rarity of such an opportunity, it seems that SBS deemed Big Bang as worthy of the time because of the history they’ve built up both in Korea and overseas.
SBS representatives have put a gag order on the directors in order to keep Big Bang’s newest songs under wraps until the special airs.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that with the exception of the intro track, the other 6 from their mini album will be promoted as title tracks at one shot.

Big Bang’s comeback has the music industry on high alert

Big Bang’s February 24th comeback has put the entire music industry on high alert, especially for those artists who were looking to either debut or return.
Now that their comeback date has been set in stone, both rookies and top tier artists originally scheduled for a debut or comeback this March are scrambling to reschedule in order to avoid battling it out with one of the biggest returns in the industry.
A representative from an agency currently preparing a new idol group debut revealed,  “We have nothing to gain from releasing an album at the same time as Big Bang.  We’re planning to postpone their debut to sometime after March.”
Most of the debuts and comebacks were already postponed due to TVXQ’s comeback last month; the fact that the industry is being hit with another huge name so quickly is causing agency representatives to furrow their brows with exasperation.
Since SBS is also at the head of Big Bang’s comeback with an extravagant one-hour long special, it’s not only agency representatives who are trembling, but the remaining two public broadcast networks (MBC and KBS) as well.
Through their literal ‘all-in’ for Big Bang, SBS will most likely win in the battle for viewer ratings, as SBS is already rumored to have promised YG Entertainment an impressive investment in the group’s audio and performance setup. The network had already made a substantial investment in 2NE1 and both of Big Bang’s solo and unit promotions as well, which may have led to this close relationship between the two powerhouses.
Unfortunately for MBC and KBS, they can only look on as SBS secures a stronger bond with the agency, especially since Big Bang is looking towards an impressive promotional year for 2011.

Big Bang to promote only one title track for comeback

Debunking rumors about Big Bang making a comeback with a whopping six title tracks, YG Entertainment has asserted that the group will be promoting only one title track for their upcoming mini-album.
With eight days remaining until their great comeback, a representative of YG Entertainment confirmed on February 16th, “Big Bang’s album will only contain one title track.”
They continued, “Recently, YG artists have been coming out with more than two title tracks to allow their fans to listen to more songs. In Big Bang’s case however, though the album will be their first in two years, the group will be focusing on just one song in order to make it a big hit, just like their past songs “Lies” and “Haru Haru“.
The K-pop industry has been seeing many artists emerge from the studio with more than one title track for their albums. Considering how 2NE1 and GD&TOP kicked off their promotions with at least three songs each, many began to wonder whether YG Entertainment would carry on their trend for Big Bang’s highly-anticipated comeback.
YGE stated, “We’ve decided for Big Bang to carry on with just one title track, but we can’t yet reveal any concrete information about their title track yet.”

YG Entertainment’s CEO explains Big Bang’s unique comeback

With Big Bang’s Korean comeback underway, much attention is being put on their unique promotionstyle, which involves promoting the releases of G-Dragon and T.O.P’s unit group and maknae Seungribefore the group’s official comeback.
In order to put it all into perspective, YG Entertainment’s CEOYang Hyun Suk, was interviewed byStar News on November 30th.
Regarding Big Bang’s completely self-composed album, Yang Hyun Suk stated, “As it is Big Bang’s first comeback after a long hiatus, their new album will contain only songs with all five of the members. No solo tracks, no duets. This is Big Bang’s present to all of the fans that have been waiting for them. They’ve been working on this album for a long time and we’d like for everyone to anticipate it.
Regarding the new unit group and Seungri’s comeback, he stated, “The songs contained in G-Dragon and T.O.P’s unit group album and Seungri’s comeback release are all songs that were once considered for Big Bang’s album. Once Big Bang decided on including only songs that featured all five of them, they decided to release the rest of the songs separately through a unit group and Seungri’s solo in December and January. As for G-Dragon and T.O.P, they already had many songs that they produced together so all they had to do was add a few more in order to complete an official album.”
Yang furthered the explanation behind G-Dragon and T.O.P’s unit group by revealing, “Since the unit group’s songs were originally meant for Big Bang’s new album, fans can consider the unit’s release as basically a Big Bang comeback. Due to this, Big Bang will be able to enjoy a longer promotion period. This is definitely for the fans that have waited for Big Bang through their long hiatus. Big Bang will be promoting in Korea this year for as long and as actively as possible.
